Description
Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge BW - The Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge bridge is a cable stay bridge that connects dowtown Charleston to Mt. Pleasant SC and we captured this as a black and white. The bridge crosses over the Cooper River and it the tallest bridge in South Carolina and is high enough for the ships to easily pass under. The bridge officially open in July 16 2005 and was designed to replace the older memorail bridge which had become obsolete. Today the bridge is one of the longest cable stay bridges in the US. Arthur Ravenel Bridge is a 2.5 mile long cable-stayed suspension bridge with two diamond-shaped towers, each 575 feet high. The bridge is name after the Charleston politician Arthur Ravenel who fought who was instrumental in bring the bridge to South Carolina. The bridge was design with a pedestrian walk way on the bridge and we saw plenty walking the 2.5 mile bridge one way and uphill.
