Description
Big Bend Window - Big Bend National Park is located in southwest Texas and includes the entire Chisos mountain range and a large area of the Chihuahuan Desert. It alway excites us when we come up to the Chisos Basin, this scenic image of the big bend window as it called is really an extinct volcano. Ths is typical Texas scenery with mountains and lot of scrubs and cactus and it draw vistors from all over the USA. It has become a tourist destination as people come here to camp, hike, canoe the rio grande river, or take in the stars at night. This area is know for its dark skies so it draws a lot of star gazing. Also in Big Bend it has some of the larger mountains in Texas. This Texas landscape at big bend is pretty much a desert landscape with mountains. Mostly it is octillo cactus and creosote growning in the area. The Chisos Basin landscape is a little more diverse with a little more greenery at lower levels in the park. Big Bend National Park is about an eight hour drive for us to get here and once in the park it is quite a distance between areas, but it is worth it to see this wonderful mountain scenery and desert landscape located in our own state.
