Description
Chuys Tex Mex Diners - The neon Chuys sign stands out at this popular tex mex restaurant with its funky colors on Barton Springs Road in downtown Austin at night. This was the original Chuy's built in 1982 and the first of many restaurant to come across Texas and beyond as it became more and more popular since. This popular dinning spot is a favorite among the Austin locals for mexican food, margaritas and great happy hours. We love the colorful nature of the entrance and lights at the front of the restaurant at night. Inside the funky theme continues with colorful art on the walls and the ceiling is cover in hub caps along with the front/sides of a car on the wall along with colorful fish on the ceiling and the walls throught out the restaurant and you have eye candy to enjoy with your meal. Not to forget Elvis alter and every year they celebrate his birthday, death and anything else. Each restaturant is slightly different but all are colorful with a funky vibe, This place is only a block away from Zilker Park so come prepared to wait for some great food at chuys. One of the owners from Mike and Charlies started the Chuys restaurant with another guy after he had shut down Mike and Charlies over on 34 street for a short time in the 70's along with a few other places around Austin. A few years later he and another guy open Chuys and the rest is history with Chuys everywhere across the country, with close to a 100 restaurants now.
