Tower Station and U Drop Inn - Route 66 - This is the famous Conoco Tower Station which use to be three building with the service station and the U Drop Inn and a shop which ended up being for overflow in the restaurant back in the day. The Tower Station was the first commercial business located on the newly designated Route 66 in Shamrock. Today this building has been taken over by the city of Shamrock Texas. They include the chamber of commerce for the city of Shamrock and a visitor center and U Drop Inn. This art deco style was inspired by John Nunn and created by architect Joseph Berry and built in 1936. There are two towers on the top with one with a metal tulip spelling out CONOCO Tower and other say CAFE. This building is on the Register of Historic Places. The route 66 started in 1926 in Chicago, through Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas,New mexico,Arizona to California till 1985. We stuck around till dark so we could photographic this with all the neon lights all lit up to capture it at twilight. Also available in black and white.
