Description
Lost Maples Park - We came to the this Texas Hill Country park and this maple tree at the entrance gate was showing beautiful fall colors. The maples After we got in the park we found only a hand ful of trees turning on our first trip for this year. Autumn in Texas is fleeting some years it is great other years not so great all depending on the amount of rain and the heat. So far this year it is looking better but we are a little early yet so we will come back next week. This park is manged by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and it can get over run in fall so get there early if you plan to come they were shutting down on this day at 11:00 when we left. It is considered a state natural area. There were a few maples that were beginning to show color and the scyamores. We did come back a week later and this maple tree at the entrance leaves were already were falling off, how fleeting our fall season can be the extreme heat took a toll I am sure on this big tooth maple at the entrance. This is just one example of how quickly our fall season is in Texas. However I did like this maple tree at the entrance and was glad we had a moment with it before the leaves dropped.
