Description
Luckenbach General Store - This is another image of Luckenbach General Store, where the post office was closed in 1971 and the zip code that goes with it was retired. This place is a tourist attraction in Texas Hill country for many locals and travelors wanting something a little bit different, It is an hours and half drive from Austin Texas or about an hour from San Antonio. Tourist flock to this area from Austin and San Antonio because of the many winerys and usually stop by to check out the Luckenbach store. The old tree in front was probably there for a hundred years. This place was made famous by Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings song about Luckenbach. It is now a tourist destination in the Texas Hill country for many. If you want to chill out and listen to some live music out in the beer gardens, or play a game of washers (like horse shoes) or enjoy a night at the dance hall it got a little bit of everything for most people. This is the image of the old post office which is now mostly a tourist store where you can purchase post cards and T-shirts along with other trinkets. In the back of the general store is a saloon and the beer gardens. The closest city is Fredricksburg Texas and you can go from winery to winery after your visit to Luckenbach.
