Description
Luckenbach General Store BW - This is another image of Luckenbach General Store in almost black and white just a touch of red to bring out the rusty roof. The actual post office was closed in 1971 and the zip code that goes with it was retired. The post office is now more a tourist shop with t-shirts, post cards, coffee cups and other items you can take back home to prove you have been there. This place is a tourist attraction in Texas Hill country for many locals and travelors wanting something a little bit different, The old tree in front was probably there for at least a hundred years. This place was made famous by Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings song about Luckenbach. It is now a tourist destination in the Texas Hill country for many who visit Fredricksburg Texas. If you want to chill out and listen to some live music out in the beer gardens, or play a game of washers (like horse shoes) or enjoy a night at the dance hall it got a little bit of everything for most people. There is always someone playing in the picker circle in the beer garden or you can hang out In the bar located in the back of the store which the locals keep going year round. Also note the statue of Hondo Crouch the first mayor of Lukenbach for a population of eight. He really was the creater of this small town fame in the Texas hill country.
